The Bill for a law to prohibit and abolish open cattle and other livestock grazing and rearing in Anambra state, to establish Cattle and other livestock ranches in the state has been passed.
The Bill provides that no person or persons should engage in open herding or grazing in any part of the state, outside the authorized ranches.
The Bill also stipulates that any contravention of the law attracts two years jail term or 250 thousand naira or both.
The Bill was passed on Tuesday’s Plenary on the floor of the Anambra State House of Assembly.
Speaker of the house, Hon. Uche Okafor applauded the house for passing the Bill. He also read out the Bill for passage, while the lawmakers supported it through a voice note.
