Plans to relax old working traditions and adopt virtual and remote working arrangements are ongoing in Kaduna state.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Muyiwa Adekeye , the governor of Kaduna said that workers in the state will commence a transition to a four day working week to help boost productivity, improve work life and and allow workers to spend time with their families.
Adekeye said that the implementation of the transitional arrangement in the public service will start from December 1, 2021. He also said that from December, working hours for public servants would commence from 8am Mondays to 5pm Fridays. According to the directives, public servants , apart from those in schools and healthcare facilities would work from home on Friday.
He stated that the interim working arrangement would continue until the government was ready to move to the next stage of the transition , which would culminate in the four day working week in all ministries , departments and agencies in the state.
He also said that this measure is designed to reflect lessons learnt from managing the Covid19 pandemic.
