Presidential Spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu, has criticized an article written by David Piling and published by the UK Financial Times on January 31.
In the Article titled ,”What is Nigeria’s Government For”, David described the Nigerian Government as a government sleepwalking into disaster. He also claimed that President Buhari has overseen two terms of economic slump, rising debt and a calamitous increase in kidnapping and banditry.
In a rebuttal on Sunday, Mallam Shehu said that while the writer highlighted banditry as a proof of such slumber, he forgot to mention the security gains made by the present administration’s two terms.
He also said the writer neglected to mention the comprehensive plan rolled out to deal with frequent and age-long clashes between nomadic herders and sedentary farmers .
He said that the situation with insecurity is grave and not only limited to Nigeria but as with other challenges, the government is facing it down.
