
More than one hundred students are to benefit from The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (Nawoj )South East Girl Child Scholarship Scheme as part of her activities to mark the 2022 International Women’s Day Celebration
The NAWOJ Vice President in charge of South-East Zone, Comrade Stella Igboka who disclosed this in her message to mark this year’s International Women’s Day Celebration said that the educational scheme which starts today will cut across the five states of the zone
Comrade Igboka said that empowering a girl child educationally will be a good way to prepare for a more vibrant future hence capturing this year’s theme, Gender Equality, Today for a sustainable Tomorrow
She opined that Education remains the key to Success maintaining that training and equipping a girl child will prepare her adequately for any challenge and help her grab opportunities if the need arises
NAWOJ SOUTHEAST solicit the Government at all levels to initiate more interventional programmes that will provide succour and good living for Nigerian Women.
She further expressed displeasure on the rejection of gender bills before the National Assembly and called for reconsideration and adoption of such sensitive bills to give women a sense of belonging.
