President Muhammadu Buhari has been asked to seriously consider resigning from office if he can’t deal with insecurity in the country as Nigerians cannot live under conditions associated with security challenges until the tenure of Buhari expires.
This was contained in a statement by the spokesman of Northern Elders Forum, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed on Tuesday. Baba-Ahmed said that the government has not given a satisfying and appropriate response to killings across the country.
He also said that people cannot continue to live and die under the dictates of killers, kidnappers, rapists, and sundry criminal groups that have deprived people of their rights to live in peace and security.
Bala-Ahmed said that as enshrined in the constitution, there is a provision for leaders to step down if they can’t handle the affairs of the nation. He said that this is such a time for President Buhari to seriously consider the option of stepping down since his leadership has proved incapable;e of providing Nigerians with security. He also said that criminals are having field time because they have sensed a vacuum at the highest levels of leadership.
