Vigilante Leader, Three Others Arrested For Kidnapping In Anambra
Report says a vigilante leader is being detained in Anambra State in connection with alleged kidnapping.
According to the report, Four AK47 rifles were allegedly recovered from the suspect’s backyard.
Three other members of his group were also taken into custody by the security operatives following a tip-off.
Report has it that Security men stormed the suspect’s house on Tuesday and took him away.
Sources said the suspect had been instrumental in kidnap cases in his area.
They alleged, “Sometimes, he collected as low as N1.5m to N2m to free victims. Those AK-47 rifles were hidden in a thick banana plantation at the back of his house. Our people are being kidnapped almost on a daily basis without knowing that our vigilante leader was behind it”.
When contacted, Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, said he had not received report on the arrest, but intimated that security operatives had been on the trail of criminal elements in the state for some time.
