Legal Expert Laments ASUU/Fed. Govt. Face-off Crippling Academic Sector
A former Chairman, Anambra State branch of the Nigerian Bar Association, Barrister Emmanuel Okechukwu Junior, has expressed dismay at the protracted face-off between the Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Federal government, which has crippled the education sector in Nigeria.
Barrister Okechukwu Junior, a human right activist in a press statement in Awka, condemned the industrial action which has lingered for over six months.
He regretted that the education sector is underfunded and should be properly funded as obtained in developed countries of the world.
The legal expert bemoaned federal government’s insensitivity to the plight of Nigerian students in preference to giving aid to Niger Republic.
He called on Nigerian students to rise to the occasion and take their destinies in their hands by supporting the right candidate during the 2023 general election.
According to him, the education sector should be recaptured for the nation’s development.
