Political Leaders Tasked On Selfless Service
Political leaders have been charged to use rheir positions to serve God and humanity.
Rev. Father Anawuna of St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Amawbia, made the call in his sermon during the Holy Mass to mark the birthday celebration of Hon. Chukwuma Pius Okoye, member representing Awka South 2 Constituency, Obiezu, in the Anambra State House of Assembly.
Rev. Fr. Anawuna also enjoined Christians to continue to be their brothers’ keepers and source of hope to the less privileged in their midst.
He commended Hon. Okoye, For what he is doing in his constituency and urged him to continue to serve his people in the spirit of equity and fairness.
In his remark, Hon. Okoye pledged to continue discharging his legislative duties without fear or favour.
He noted that one of his major responsibilities as a legislator is to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
The legislator expressed gratitude to God for adding another year to his life.
Highlight on the occasion was presentation of food items and cash gifts to widows and less privileged by Hon. Okoye accompanied by his wife, Chiugo.
Some of the dignitaries that graced the occasion were Hon. Innocent Ekemezie, Nzeabata Umuawulu; Dr. Lady Ngozi Ekwunife, Coordinator of Obizi women; Hon. Chukwuebuka Mikel Nwafor, Councilor, Mbaukwu Ward; Mrs Amarachukwu Okafor, a Community woman leader in Mbaukwu; as well as Mrs. Ngozi Achusi, one of the widows.
