The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has refuted rumors claiming that it canceled the planned nationwide protest set for today.

Online reports which went viral on Tuesday, suggested that the union had decided to abandon the protest after a meeting with government officials.

However, NLC’s President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, stated on Tuesday night that they have neither reconsidered nor suspended the protest. He said that the union had a meeting with government officials to address the impact of the fuel subsidy removal, but it ended in a deadlock with no agreement reached. The NLC President urged Nigerians to disregard the rumor and continue supporting their cause for the betterment of workers and the people.
