Former Governor of Anambra State and vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2019 general elections, says the family plans to disburse not less than 50-million Naira to schools across Nigeria.
He said the gesture is part of events to mark his wife’s 50th birthday anniversary.
Former Governor Obì who made this known while interacting with journalists in Awka, to mark the 10th anniversary of return of schools to missions in Anambra State, on Wednesday, opined that it is a better way to use the money to benefit society rather than than throwing parties.
He noted the importance of education to any nation as it is the bedrock of growth, development and progress.
The former governor further asserted that the law authorizing the return of schools to the mission in Anambra State made it clear that it is the responsibility of the government to maintain the schools, while the management and formation could be in the hands of the
mission and other voluntary agencies who are better equipped to do it.
