The United Kingdom and Nigeria are poised to ink a landmark partnership agreement facilitating British legal practitioners to establish businesses and offer services within Nigeria.
In a recent press release posted on Tuesday, the bilateral pact between the UK and Nigeria aims to bolster trade, investment, and unearth novel prospects for both nations.
Highlighting its scope beyond financial realms, the agreement seeks to fortify the existing fruitful $7 billion partnership between the two countries.
As per the UK’s Department of Business and Trade, a fresh pact is on the horizon to augment collaboration between the nations. Dubbed as The Enhanced Trade and Investment Partnership (ETIP), this pact marks the UK’s inaugural endeavor of such magnitude with an African nation.
British Business and Trade Secretary, Kemi Badenoch, emphasized that the accord heralds myriad opportunities for Britons, considering Nigeria’s meteoric economic growth in Africa.
Badenoch asserted that this groundbreaking partnership with Nigeria, the UK’s premier engagement with an African nation, will pave the way for joint endeavors and capitalize on forthcoming opportunities. Nigeria stands out with one of the swiftest-growing economies globally.”
He further added that British enterprises have reaped significant triumphs here, and he eagerly anticipates the continued expansion of this alliance.
Furthermore, the agreement commits Nigeria to take proactive measures in dismantling barriers impeding UK attorneys from practicing international and foreign law within the West African domain.
