GSS Awka Principal, Ndidi Okeke, Prays For Better Days Ahead

The Principal, Girls Secondary School, Awka, Dr Mrs Ndidi Okeke, has expressed optimism that the second half of the year will usher in better prospects than the out-gone first half with some negative uncertainties and economic destabilization.

In a press statement in Awka on prospects for the second half of the year, Dr. Okeke expressed hope that the challenges of some parents’ inability to pay their children’s school fees and the struggle to feed students in the boarding house will be nipped in the bud.

Beyond the school’s closure date of 27th of July, 2024, the Principal announced plans by the school management to invite parents to a PTA meeting on the 18th of this month to inform them about its intention to release the results of their children to them to cross fertilize ideas with their parents for poorly performed students.

She enjoined students to engage in entrepreneurial trainings, extra mural studies and other positive extra curricular activities during the holidays.

Dr. Okeke listed some challenges facing the college to include erosion, no school Cafeteria, old school hall that needs urgent replacement, sub standards laboratory, and appealed to public spirited individuals and organizations to come to their aid.

She further announced that plans are underway to celebrate the golden jubilee of the college in 2026.

On his part, the President General of Amawbia Town Union, Rotarian Godwin Aronu, commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for distributing some economic crops to the community, expecting that more democracy dividends will come their way in the second half of the year.
