In Yobe State, a joint operation involving the Nigerian Army and local hunters successfully thwarted an attempted vandalism by suspected Boko Haram insurgents near Kasaisa, a community close to Damaturu, the state capital.
According to sources, the insurgents were intercepted while attempting to destroy electricity poles belonging to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN). They were traveling in an ash-colored Toyota Corolla with registration number BWR-572 FP Abuja.
An anonymous hunter involved in the operation reported that the suspected vandals were blocked from multiple routes, and with divine intervention, they achieved victory. They fled, abandoning their vehicle, a Toyota Corolla.
Explosive devices and other materials intended for vandalizing the electricity poles were recovered from the vehicle.
The incident underscores ongoing security challenges in the region, where vandals have previously targeted TCN infrastructure, disrupting electricity supply in Borno and Yobe states.
