The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has confiscated substandard, falsified and banned agrochemicals worth over 20 million Naira in major markets across Sokoto State.
NAFDAC disclosed that the operation, conducted by its Investigation and Enforcement/Federal Task Force, led to the seizure of cartons of endocoton super containing the banned herbicide Paraquat, which poses significant health and environmental risks.
The agency also seized 2,096 cartons of substandard and falsely labeled MOE Soap, 223 cartons of substandard Oxxo Purest Soap, and unregistered herbal preparations with pornographic imagery, all of which were deemed public health hazards.
Four suspects were arrested during the operation and are currently under investigation, while the confiscated products will be processed according to regulations for substandard and falsified products.
NAFDAC reiterated its ban on Paraquat agrochemicals and pledged rigorous enforcement, urging the public to report any suspicious activities or products to its nearest office.
