The Presidency has inaugurated the Presidential Food Systems Coordination Unit (PFSCU) to address Nigeria’s food security crisis and rising food costs.
Chaired by Vice President Kashim Shettima, the unit includes state governors, local government representatives, development partners, and other stakeholders.
The unit’s mission is to coordinate agricultural activities nationwide.
Shettima emphasized the urgency of the food security crisis, noting that it threatens democratic stability and requires immediate and collaborative action.
President Bola Tinubu, who declared a food security emergency last year, stressed the need for improved irrigation and enhanced security for farmers to ensure year-round food production.
