President Bola Tinubu has approved a new minimum wage of ₦70,000 for Nigerian workers, with a commitment to review the minimum wage law every three years.
The approval was confirmed by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy today.
In the meeting with leaders of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Abuja, Tinubu also pledged to support the private sector and sub-national governments in paying the new wage. Additionally, he promised to address the demands of university unions regarding unpaid salaries.
Labour leaders applauded the President for his gesture.
