The Ogun State Government has allocated 100 hectares of land to the Nigerian Navy for the establishment of a Naval Base and Dockyard.
This strategic move aims to enhance security in the state, which is a significant industrial hub in Nigeria.
The announcement was made during a courtesy visit by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun to the Naval Headquarters, where he was received by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla.
Vice Admiral Ogalla emphasized the importance of Ogun State in national security and economic activities, noting that the presence of the Nigerian Navy is crucial to safeguarding investments in the region.
He highlighted several proposed projects, including the development of a molecular LNG plant, a blue seaport, and the Tongaji Island, which are expected to bring significant investments to the Nigerian economy.
Governor Abiodun explained that the allocation of land for the naval facilities was part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the state government and the Nigerian Navy.
He also mentioned that Ogun State has attained frontier status for oil exploration, with the potential to become an oil-producing state in the near future.
