On the Foreign Scene
Police in Spain have seized over one million ecstasy pills, marking the country’s largest-ever synthetic drug bust.
According to report, the haul, valued at over 25 million euros, was discovered in the southern city of Malaga and the island of Ibiza.
Nine suspects, believed to be part of a major European drug network, were arrested. Authorities say the group was led by Italian nationals operating in Ibiza, a well-known hotspot for party drugs.
In addition to the ecstasy pills, officers confiscated large quantities of MDMA, ketamine, cocaine, and other narcotics. Police believe the gang smuggled the drugs using vehicles with hidden compartments.
Spain remains a key entry point for drugs into Europe due to its geographic proximity to Latin America and North Africa, major drug-producing regions.
