Nigerian workers have voiced growing frustration over the rising cost of transportation, which they attribute to the persistent increase in fuel prices.
In interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria, workers highlighted the financial strain caused by higher transport fares.
A dentist, Mr. Anosike Godson, noted that his daily commute has skyrocketed from N200 to N500 in just a year, without any corresponding salary increase.
Similarly, engineer Mr. Ubokabasi Ekam called for fuel price control, stating that transportation costs have tripled.
Lawyer Mr. Ubong Udoekpo revealed that more than half of his salary now goes to transportation, while civil servant Ms. Joy Light said her entire salary is consumed by commuting costs, forcing her to reduce her workdays.
The workers emphasized that the fuel price hike has caused a ripple effect across the economy, increasing the cost of essential goods and services.
