On Foreign Scene
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has issued a stark warning, threatening to use nuclear weapons against South Korea if provoked. This statement comes amid rising tensions on the Korean Peninsula, following South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol’s remarks that any nuclear attack from the North would lead to the end of its regime.
During a recent visit to a military base, Kim declared that any encroachment on North Korea’s sovereignty would prompt an immediate response, including the use of nuclear capabilities.
He stated that the permanent existence of Seoul and the Republic of Korea would be impossible if such a situation arises.
These threats coincide with North Korea’s ongoing efforts to enhance its nuclear arsenal, including recent disclosures of a uranium enrichment facility. As both nations bolster their military capabilities, concerns grow over potential provocations, with South Korea showcasing its advanced missile systems in response to the North’s aggressive posturing.
