The Libyan Football Federation is under pressure after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) requested documents concerning the cancellation of the AFCON Group D qualifying match between Libya and Nigeria.

The Super Eagles refused to play after their plane was diverted to Labraq Airport and they were held for 18 hours without food or water.

Libya Al-Ahrar Channel reported that the Libyan Federation’s Secretary-General, Nasser Al-Suwaie, confirmed that both Libya and Nigeria have until the 20th of this month to submit relevant documents to CAF. Al-Suwaie mentioned that a specialized lawyer has been hired to defend Libya’s position, asserting that the Federation had no role in changing the flight path, as the decision came from the Libyan state.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles recounted their ordeal, with team manager Patrick Pascal describing the poor treatment, including sleeping on the bare floor and using deliberately fouled toilets at the airport.
