Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have dismantled two major cross-border drug trafficking syndicates and arrested six drug kingpins from Adamawa, Anambra, and Lagos states, as well as Cameroon recovering cocaine and opioids worth billions of naira .
According to a statement released on Sunday by the NDLEA’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, the arrests were made following months of surveillance, revealing the group’s role as primary suppliers to terrorist organizations in Nigeria and Cameroon.
Ibrahim Bawuro and Najib Ibrahim, who were intercepted in Taraba with two hundred and seventy-six thousand, five hundred tramadol pills after fleeing from an NDLEA pursuit, led to follow-up operations subsequently carried out in Delta and Anambra states, where Ezeh Amaechi Martin and Udechukwu Nelson Anayo were arrested by operatives of the NDLEA Directorate of Intelligence, which coordinated the entire effort with their counterparts in Taraba, Adamawa, Delta, and Anambra States.
Babafemi also noted that other operations at the Apapa seaport led to the seizure of over 31 million controlled opioid pills hidden in a container from India as Diclofenac Sodium 100mg tablets.
