Nurses under the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, NANNM, have staged a protest over poor working conditions in government-owned health institutions. The demonstration took place at their residential quarters, Nurses House, in Okpuno, where they urged their leadership to take their demands to the state government.
The nurses decried poor salary implementation, stating that they receive the lowest pay compared to neighboring states. They revealed that some hospitals have overcrowded wards, and their hazard allowance remains N3,000 instead of the statutory N30,000.
NANNM State Chairperson, Mrs. Edith Onwuka, assured them that leadership is engaging the government to resolve their concerns and appealed for patience.
