The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), has suspended its planned nationwide strike after the West African Examination Council (WAEC), withdrew a controversial internal circular.
Tensions arose after WAEC’s January 16 memo stopped the deduction of NASU check-off dues, a move the union described as a violation of labour agreements.
Following negotiations, WAEC withdrew the March 14 directive, leading NASU to put its strike on hold.
NASU General Secretary, Prince Peters Adeyemi, confirmed the suspension, stating that the union will monitor WAEC’s compliance with the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
NASU remains cautious, warning that further action will be taken if WAEC fails to honor its commitments.
