The Abia State Government has announced plans to convert the newly constructed Government House built by former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu into a five-star hotel.

Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, described the building as unsafe and uninhabitable, accusing the past administration of rushing its completion 24 hours before leaving office.

Kanu stated the structure lacked essential features, with only one floor partially completed and no elevator installed.

Governor Alex Otti has ordered the construction of a new Government House at the original site.

The commissioner said the hotel conversion would prevent waste and boost the state’s economy, urging Abians to support the administration’s development agenda.
