Governor Kefas Agbu of Taraba State has made a shocking revelation, clarifying that his younger sister, Atsi Kefas, was not killed by bandits as initially believed, but by a police escort attached to their mother.

Speaking to journalists in Jalingo, Governor Kefas stated that investigations confirmed Atsi was shot at close range while traveling from Jalingo to Abuja with their mother in 2024. The escort, who was in the same vehicle, is currently under investigation.

Governor Kefas also confirmed that pellets from the shot were found in Atsi’s body during surgery before she succumbed to the injuries.

He used the briefing to also condemn the recent killings in Karim-Lamido, where over 50 people lost their lives. He observed a minute of silence for both his sister and the victims, and announced the formation of a commission of inquiry to investigate the violence and restore peace.

As of the time of filing this report, the Taraba State Police Command has not issued an official response.
