Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has condemned the recent attack on the Oko community in Anambra State, calling it a tragic symbol of Nigeria’s worsening insecurity and an assault on education.
The Thursday night incident, near the Federal Polytechnic, reportedly claimed at least two lives, injured several others, and led to the abduction of staff members. While eyewitnesses suggest four fatalities, police confirmed two and linked the attack to cult violence.

Obi, in a statement on X, expressed heartbreak, urging swift action by security agencies. He extended condolences to the affected families and called for a people-centered security overhaul to protect citizens, especially students and educators.
