In political developments ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 elections, Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, Yabagi Sani, says northerners are unlikely to trust former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on his promise to serve only one term if elected president in 2027.
Speaking on Channels TV, Sani argued that history shows power often changes politicians, warning that promises made before elections are rarely kept.
He said although Obi pledged during a live chat on X Spaces to serve just four years, the realities of power, incumbency, and regional interests would make it difficult to step down after one term.
Sani emphasized that no candidate is a saint and urged Nigerians to remain cautious ahead of the 2027 polls.
