OpenAI CEO, Sam Altman, has warned that conversations with ChatGPT are not legally confidential and may be used as evidence in court.
Speaking on the “This Past Weekend” podcast, Altman expressed concern over the volume of personal and sensitive information users share, especially young people who treat the AI chatbot as an emotional outlet.
He emphasized that, unlike doctors or lawyers, ChatGPT is not bound by confidentiality protections.
Altman added that OpenAI could be compelled to release sensitive user data if required by law.
He called for urgent reforms to address privacy gaps in AI usage and safeguard user interactions.
