Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface is returning to Bayer Leverkusen after AC Milan delayed approving his transfer.
The 24-year-old underwent two days of medicals in Italy, but concerns over his injury history, including past ligament tears, prompted Milan to proceed cautiously.
The proposed deal involved a €5 million loan with a €24 million option to buy.
Further assessments are expected before a final decision.
