“As the governor of Anambra State, I will not associate myself with anything illegal, I won’t associate myself with anything that does not follow due process or rule of law, I will not associate with anything that will put Ndi Anambra in harm’s way, I will not associate myself with anything undemocratic, I will not associate myself with anything that is against humanity…..”
Those were the high beam lights as The Young Progressives Party, YPP, candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State, Sir Paul Chukwuma, had a chat with journalists at his country home, Umueri, Anambra East Council Area,on Monday, 15th September, 2025.
Chukwuma asserted that it is his utmost desire to see Anambra transformed to a robust and enviable state.
Sir Paul said when he becomes the governor, he would not associate himself with anything illegal, anything that does not follow due process or the rule of law, anything that will put the State in armsway, or anything that is against humanity.
On the independence of other arms of government, Chukwuma said, “As the Governor, I intend to preside over the affairs of Anambra State, relying on clear principles of of the rule of law, I intend to allow the different arms to enjoy the independence associated with them. “Ensure that we have a robust State Assembly, where the independence of the Legislature will be our clear mandate, I don’t want a legislature that will be inside my pocket…..”
He promised to make sure that the legislators and their constituencies enjoy the benefits and dividends of democracy, while Local Government Autonomy will be effective and practicalized.
The governorship hopeful who also spoke on Taxes and Security Vote expressed commitment towards ensuring tax payment is rightly handled, and Security Votes utilized for the purpose it is meant for, to secure lives and property on Ndi Anambra.
He further assured that his administration will be transparent, responsible and responsive, as he will take responsibility, and not resort to “Iko Onu”
He assured also that his administration will hinge on transparency, Accountability, Justice, Fairness and the Rule of Law.
Chukwuma contended that from all indications, he enjoys the unity of purpose and oneness and support, needed to take Anambra State to enviable heights all Ndi Anambra will be proud of.
The YPP governorship candidate affirmed that as the Captain, he has all it takes to steer the Ship of Governance to the Promised Land, as he offers to serve his people. “Power Belongs to The People, I am only the servant!”.he declared
