Usman Yusuf a Crown Football Club player Ogbomoso Oyo State has died after slumping during a friendly match The incident happened on Sunday afternoon at Muda Lawal Stadium, Asero, Abeokuta.
Yusuf who was on trial at Gateway United FC while playing the first half of their friendly match against Sliema Wanderers slumped, but was resuscitated by the medics immediately and was taken to the State Hospital Ijaye where he passed on hours later
The Media officer of the Gateway FC, Moses Ojewumi while confirming the incident on Monday in Abeokuta said, that Usman Yusuf had showed bad signs only during the match of which medics quickly attended to him but he later suffered a relapse before giving up the ghost at the hospital
Ojewumi however declared that the player never exhibited any sign of illness when he came for trials while pointing out that he also did not die at the camp as was erroneously reported in some quarters
