The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) is commemorating its 60th anniversary with a series of special events, including Jumat Prayer and Thanksgiving services.

According to a statement by the Media and Publicity Committee of the anniversary, the celebration officially began with the Jumat Prayer held on Friday, October 24, in all State Chapters and the FCT, while the Church Service holds on Sunday, October 26, in all State Chapters and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The National Leadership of SWAN, under the presidency of Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, extended a warm invitation to government functionaries, sports enthusiasts, members of the association, and the general public to join SWAN members in expressing gratitude to God for six decades of impactful journalism and contributions to Nigeria’s sports development.

“It will also be an opportunity for us to collectively pray for the protection of members, better fortunes for Nigeria’s sports men and women, and a more prosperous sports sector,” the statement read.

As part of the anniversary line-up, the SWAN Diamond Jubilee and Awards Ceremony will also feature the Full Council Meeting an assembly comprising the National Executive Council, Zonal Vice Presidents and Secretaries, as well as State Chairmen and Secretaries of the association.
