Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP John Abang has ordered the detention of the Police men involved in alleged shooting incident at Igboukwu, Aguata Local Government Area and full scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding it.
A release signed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Mohammed, said CP Abang, who is deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident and appealed for calm, assured the public that justice would be done in the case and the outcome of Police investigation shall be made public in due course.
On Tuesday December fifteenth 2020 at about half past ten in the night, there was an altercation between Police operatives and motorcycle riders over some impounded motorcycles as a result of the recent restriction on movement of motorcycles beyond nine o’clock in the night across the state.
The situation degenerated into a chaos, that led to an accidental discharge that hit one motorcycle rider and burning of Igboukwu Police Station by irritated youths.
