Family of Nigerian on death row in Saudi Arabia pleads for Clemency

The family of Suleiman Obafemi has visited the office of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) to plead for clemency for him. The family has cried out to federal government to keep their son execution.

The Chairman of NIDCOM, Abike Dabiri Erewa tweeted that Suleiman has been on death row for 18 years in Saudi Arabia. He was accused of being part of a mob that attacked and killed a Saudi police officer.

Abike Dabiri Erewa said that Minister Onyeama, the Nigerian Mission in Saudi as well as some members of the Diaspora community in Saudi and Tolu Sadipe have been on the case .

However, she said that the 20 year old daughter of the slain Saudi Officer , who was 2 years at the time of her father’s death , will determine if Suleiman lives or dies.

She regretted that he was part of the mob that killed the officer but stated that Nigeria goverment will do all they can for the sake of his aged parents and family who wept uncontrollably at the NIDCOM office.
