The Anambra State Ministry of Environment has commenced enforcement of “Operation Desilt Your Waterways 2.0,” one month after issuing a compliance notice.

During an inspection tour in Awka, Commissioner for Environment Dr. Felix Odimegwu warned that defaulters will be prosecuted.

The operation targets illegal waste disposal and trading on drainage paths. Environmental Health Officers and the Ocha Brigade are mobilized across all 21 LGAs to monitor and enforce compliance. Sites in Onitsha, Obosi, and Nnewi were inspected, with abatement notices served.

Odimegwu emphasized community responsibility and reiterated the state’s commitment to a clean, green environment in line with Governor Soludo’s vision. He pledged improved strategies to ensure environmental sustainability and public health.
