Covid 19: Lockdown in Anambra state continues

Anambra State Police Command has informed the general public that the Command has commenced total enforcement of lockdown order in the State with immediate effect.

A release signed by the state Police PRO, Mr Haruna Mohammed on behalf of the State Commissioner of Police, John Abang, said this is in compliance with the directives of the Anambra State Government in order to contain the spread of COVID-19.

He said in view of this, the people are kindly requested to stay at home.

The release said no movement, and no local transportation.

Mr Haruna noted that the index case has been in the State since March 28 and has socialized extensively.

According to him, the extreme restriction became necessary in order to identify and isolate primary and secondary contacts as well as ensure no further spread of the disease as the contact tracing is ongoing.

The public is to note that the Police and all security Agencies in the State are geared to enforce the order to the letter in observance of overriding public health interest.

Meanwhile, the Public are urged to utilise the following phone numbers in case of any emergency and to report observed breaches of the lockdown order or other security needs accordingly.

He further noted that Coronavirus pandemic is real and kills, urging everyone to stay at home, to stay alive

Meanwhile, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr John Abang, has appealed to the media to support and assist the Police in sensitising the public on the ongoing enforcement actions on the sit-at-home order by both the Federal and State Governments.

The Police Commissioner expressed belief that this would help achieve the desired objective of containing the spread of the dreaded virus in the State and the Nation at large.

He thanked the media for their support and selfless efforts in projecting the positive image of the Command especially at this critical period of national emergency.
