Anambra State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (ASPHCDA) in collaboration with partner agencies is organising Sub-National Immunisation Plus Days (SIPDs).
The event, which commenced from Nov. 28 to end on Dec. 1 was necessitated by recent certification of Nigeria as ‘Polio-Free’ by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on Aug. 25.
Executive Secretary, ASPHCDA, Dr Chioma Ezenyimulu in a circular noted that the country would continue to administer Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) to eligible children of 0 – 59 months to maintain the certification which she affirmed will contribute to total global eradication of Polio and interrupt any recirculation of Wild Polio in the country.
The event slated to end today had successfully run at various Public Health Facilities as well as other designated points accross the state, house to house, which includes; Churches, Mosque, Markets, Schools, Motor Parks, Village Squares etc
Dr Ezenyimulu hereby solicites the cooperation of the public for the exercise in making sure to mobilize their wards to present every eligible child for vaccination at the nearest health facilities or designated locations before end of the exercise tomorrow.
