Com. Nwabunwanne Lauds The Launch Of The Pharmaceutical Centre In Oba, Idemili South
The Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Hon. Collins Nwabunwanne, says the launching of the Coordinated Wholesale Center for Pharmaceutical And Allied Products will enable drug manufacturers and importers key into government drugs distribution policy.
The Commissioner who made the assertion while interacting with Journalists during the ground Breaking ceremony of the Center in Oba, Idemili South Council Area, maintained that with the development, pharmaceutical products sold to the public are guaranteed as being safe, genuine and of good quality.
He extolled Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the giant stride, adding that the federal government drugs distribution policy will equally ensure that the channel of distribution provide good platform for curtailing the dispensing of fake, adulterated, substandard and expired drugs.
Commissioner Nwabunwanne further explained that the Coordinated Wholesale Center will create jobs for the teeming Oba and Anambra youths in general.
Some traditional rulers present on the occasion, Igwe Kenneth Orizu of Nnewi, Igwe Benjamin Okeji of Omasi, traditional ruler of Abacha, Igwe Emeka Iluno of Ifitedunu, igwe Peter Ezeamama of Engwu Umuoyia and his Olumbanasaa counterpart, Igwe Pius Omachonu, applauded Prof. Soludo for the initiative, and appealed to him to ensure that the number of the traders are well documented for even distribution of the shops.
Other traditional rulers who also spoke at tge event, including Igwe Conel Onnebunne of Akwaihide, Igwe Christopher Ndibe of Umuorum, commended the governor for the project, and appealed to him to build more residential houses close to the Center to enable traders access the site easily.
The royal fathers who recalled the efforts of the late Professor Dora Akuyili in sanitizing the drug market through her war against fake and adulterated drugs, prayed God to rest her soul.
