Court Bars Natasha, Akpabio, Others From Press Interviews, Commentaries On Pending Suit
Justice Binta Fatima Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja has barred concerned parties from granting press interviews relating to the suit filed by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and three others.
Justice Nyako worried by the barrage of public commentaries trailing the case, issued the order on Friday following complaints by the lawyer to Akpabio, Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN), that the plaintiff was going around various television houses, granting press interviews and discussing issues relating to her case, which is currently pending before the court.
Delivering a brief ruling, Justice Nyako said there shall be no press interviews by all parties and their lawyers regarding the subject matter of the case.
Additionally, Justice Nyako prohibited parties and their lawyers from engaging in streaming the proceedings of the case on social media platforms.
Following Justice Obiora Egwuatu’s decision on March 25, 2025 to recuse himself from the case due to allegation of bias against him by Senator Akpabio, the case file was returned to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, who promptly reassigned the case to Justice Nyako.
