Former US President Donald Trump has been formally accused of seeking to reverse his defeat in the 2020 election held in Georgia, marking the fourth criminal case against him in a span of five months. Despite being a leading contender for the Republican nomination in the upcoming 2024 presidential election, Mr. Trump faces indictment along with 18 associates.

He has rejected all 13 charges leveled against him, encompassing offenses like racketeering and election interference, attributing them to political motivations.

Fani Willis, a Georgia prosecutor, initiated an inquiry in February 2021 into claims of election manipulation involving Mr. Trump and his companions.

In a 98-page indictment disclosed on Monday, the prosecution detailed 41 charges encompassing all 19 defendants. Willis informed that the accused have until noon on Friday, August 25, to surrender voluntarily, with plans to conduct a joint trial for all 19 individuals.

The alleged co-conspirators encompass figures like former Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani, ex-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, and former White House lawyer John Eastman. Others implicated include Jeffrey Clark, a former justice department official, as well as Sidney Powell and Jenna Ellis, both Trump-affiliated attorneys who propagated unverified allegations of widespread voter fraud.

According to the indictment, the defendants knowingly and intentionally participated in a scheme to unlawfully alter the election’s outcome in favor of Trump.
