IPAC disclaims Imo govt. Christmas gifts
Imo state Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Group of 12 political party Chairmen, has distanced itself from the Christmas gifts purportedly given to it by the Imo State Government.
The IPAC G.12 Chairman, Elder Anthony Uchendu Ahaneku, disclosed this while addressing newsmen in Owerri at the weekend.
He explained that a vote of No Confidence was passed on the executive of IPAC, led by Ichie Levi Ekeh last year, and that 12 party Chairmen, out of the 18 members, voted in favour of the vote of no confidence which automatically threw out Ichie Ekeh and his executive as valid leadership of Imo IPAC.
Elder Ahaneku alleged that the vote of no confidence became necessary when it was discovered that Ichie Ekeh and his secretary were involved in anti IPAC activities by opening a secret account for IPAC where he illegally lodged monies that belong to the group.
They also alleged that Ichie Ekeh engaged in other subversive activities inimical to IPAC operations.
In the light of the above Elder Ahaneku, who was flanked by other Party Chairmen of G.12 during the news briefing wondered why the Imo state Government should relate with a suspended executive.
He, therefore, made it clear that the G12 were not partakers of the rice, money and other Christmas gifts collected by Ichie Ekeh from the state Government.
On the other hand, Elder Ahaneku disclosed that after a meeting of the G.12, it resolved that considering the affairs in the state and the belief of G12 in the rule of law and security in the country, the body has decided to mount a Peace and Security Summit in February, this year, in collaboration with Imo state government, INEC and security agencies.
Elder Ahaneku emphasised that despite the different political leanings of IPAC, the G.12 has the desire for what he called, “Working Imo state”.
According to IPAC G.12 Chairman, “G12 represents equity, fairness and inclusiveness”.
He, therefore, used the opportunity to call on Ndi Imo, to get their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) and vote for credible candidates in the forthcoming elections.
Elder Ahaneku condemned the killings, kidnappings and other crimes in Imo state, appealing to the sponsors to desist forthwith from the dastardly acts, describing it as ill wind that blows nobody any good.
Also IPAC appealed to Imo state government to urgently look into the matter of Grade level 09 and below civil servants who are yet to receive their salaries especially now that schools will reopen and that the affected officers involved will be faced with the responsibility of paying school fees for their children and wards.
