Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has sued Senate President Godswill Akpabio for alleged defamation, demanding ₦100 billion in damages. The lawsuit, filed at the FCT High Court, also lists Akpabio’s aide, Mfon Patrick, as a defendant.
Through her lawyer, Akpoti-Uduaghan claims Akpabio defamed her in a Facebook post, suggesting she focuses more on makeup and outfits than legislative duties. She argues the statement is damaging to her reputation.
The Kogi senator recently clashed with Akpabio over a Senate seat reassignment and has now been referred to the Disciplinary Committee. She also seeks a court injunction to prevent further defamatory statements.
