
The Head of Department, Education Management, Faculty of Education, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Associate Professor Loyce Onyali, has asked the Anambra Transition team headed by Dr. Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, to guide the incoming administration of Professor Chukwuma Soludo to make proper selection of best brains to assist him actualize his vision of making the state the Dubai of Nigeria.
Dr. Onyali, who spoke to the press in Awka, urged the team to avoid the pitfalls of selecting sychophants who will derail the governor’s vision.
She felicitated with the Dean of the Faculty of Education Professor Nkechi Ikediugwu, who is also a member of the Transition team for aptly being chosen to play advisory role of guiding the incoming administration well.
The HOD expects the Dean to use her expertise to contribute meaningfully to the cause of building a virile State.
Dr.Onyali who recently took over from Prof Emenike Obi as the HOD of the Educational Management and Policy of the university, promised to ably continue from where her predecessor stopped.
Accordingly, she noted that her administration would focus on staff welfare, invigorating the departmental alumni, as well as exposing the students of the department to research which forms one of their bases for promotion.
She further promised to look into the issue of draught in students graduation from the department with a view to providing the necessary counselling to enhance their graduation, etc.
Dr.Onyali also used the occasion to felicitate with the Vice Chancellor of Unizik, Professor Charles Esimone, for ably piloting the affairs of the university.
According to her, the VC through his Project 200, is digitally repositioning the ivory tower to greater heights.
She urged the VC whom, she noted, is running an open door policy not to relent in his drive to move the university to the next level.
On his part an Awka based medical expert Dr.Cliff Okafor who spoke on the imperatives of the State health insurance scheme urged the incoming Soludo administration to opt for the sustenance and fine tuning of the scheme to promote the health care delivery in the state and the health status of the citizenry.
