The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has raised concerns over universities that failed to upload the Post-UTME screening results of underage candidates who sat for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. As of the September 15 deadline, the Board confirmed that 23 out of the 71 universities selected by underage candidates had not complied, leaving 135 applicants affected by the delay.

JAMB explained that the release of NECO’s SSCE results just days after the deadline made it necessary to extend the assessment period for these candidates. While a new date for the final evaluation has been set, the Board has not yet disclosed the details.

Among the institutions yet to comply are the University of Lagos, which has the highest number of affected candidates with 39, Nile University of Nigeria in Abuja with 18, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, with 15, and the University of Abuja with 12. Other universities listed include the University of Uyo, Federal University of Technology Owerri, David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences, University of Calabar, Lagos State University, and Bingham University in Nasarawa, alongside several smaller institutions across the country.

The Board has urged the defaulting universities to upload their candidates’ screening scores without further delay, noting that email reminders have already been sent. JAMB also reminded institutions of their broader admission timelines, with public universities required to upload recommended candidates on the Central Admissions Processing System by September 30, while private universities must do so by October 31. The final deadlines for processing admissions remain October 30 for public universities and November 31 for private universities.

JAMB further emphasised that the minimum age for admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education is 16, although exceptionally gifted candidates below that age may still be considered under a special framework. These candidates must meet very high cut-off marks and present strong single-sitting SSCE results before being subjected to additional national screening.

With this announcement, the pressure now rests on the listed universities to act quickly, as JAMB insists on compliance to ensure a smooth and transparent admissions process for 2025.
