Abia Warriors defender Adeleke Adekunle has been handed a late call-up to the Super Eagles squad for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The hard-tackling defender was initially omitted from the 30-man list released by the Nigeria Football Federation on Thursday, but, Head Coach Gernot Rohr has now decided to extend an invitation to him.

Adekunle enjoyed the 2020-2021 season with Abia Warriors and helped them retain their elite division status for another year.

He was part of the Super Eagles squad that beat the Benin Republic and Lesotho to qualify for the 2022 African Cup of Nations back in March.

He also featured for the Super Eagles team B in an international friendly against Mexico at the Coliseum in California on the 3rd of July.
