Anambra traditional rulers have carried campaigns on Enhanced Agriculture And Food Security to their various communities.
The traditional rulers disclosed this when members of the
Nationwide Association for Promotion of Agriculture and Food Security paid them courtesy visit at their Council Headquarters, Government House, Awka.
They promised to partner NationWide Association for Agriculture and Food Security Department of Farmers Council to improve agriculture through modern farming techniques.
Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers, the Deputy Chairman, Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, igwe Sunday Okafor of Okpuno in Awka South and Secretary-General, Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Pius Omachonu of Plumbanasaa,
explained that the program on food security, and modern farming will go a long way to enhance production of quality food and sufficient resources to produce.
He also appreciated the efforts of the organizers of the program and promised to get their subjects to key into Agriculture and food security program to benefit from it, as well as have physical, Social and economic access for sufficient, safe and nutritious food that meet their food preferences and dietary needs for active healthy life.
According to him, “The program is advancing global food security by helping familes and individuals’ needs and is also increasing economic opportunity and growth among vulnerable Communities”.
The royal fathers further hinted that the program would help address problems of insecurity which often rooted to poverty and also guard against citizens who go to bed hungry every night.
Responding the Zonal Director, South East Nation Wide Association for Promotion of Agriculture and Food Security, Mrs Indiana Nwokike, pointed out that they deemed it fit to intimate the traditional rulers about their programme on food security to enable them key into it for food sustainability that would feed the whole world.
She informed that promotion of agriculture and food security would enable the rich and poor enjoy pleasurable digitized and mechanized agriculture .
Mrs Nwokike encouraged the traditional rulers to reorientate their subjects in the 179 Communities in Anambra State to key into the program.
The food security team in their package, will create a wallet and credit money to enable them boost agriculture and food security.
She urged traditional rulers to get registered with their subjects to benefit from the packages.
