Following the reversal of the Federal Government of Nigeria , FGN, to increase fuel pump price on Tuesday, 24th January, 2022, the National Executive of the Nigeria Labour Congress has reconsidered and shelved the planned nationwide strike which was slated for January 27th and Feburary 2nd, 2022.

The President of the NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba said that, not relenting, they will further engage with government on the very critical issues of ensuring local refining of petroleum, creation of sustainable jobs and provision of petrol at an affordable price for Nigerian workers and people.

It will be recalled that the NLC had planned to protest the removal of the fuel subsidy which they said , would have highly exacerbated the current scourge of inflation in the country, deepened poverty and heightened social tensions an pushed the country and millions of the poor citizens to the edge.
