Chief of Army Staff Commissions Military Residential Quarters in Kaduna

The newly completed official residence of the Regimented Sergeant Major[RSM} of 1 division Army and several other non-commissioned Officers in Dalet Cantonment, Kawo, Kaduna has been commissioned by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya.

The residential quarters were commissioned on Tuesday 25 January 2022 when the COAS went on an operational visit to Headquarters 1 Division, Nigerian Army.

In a statement signed by Director Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu stated that at the commissioning, General Yahaya stated that the RSMs play vital roles in the management of soldiers and also in crucial areas of instilling discipline .

He said they also promote ethos, traditions and doctrinal values of the Nigerian Army, amongst personnel in formations and units. He maintained that service discipline and experiential knowledge gotten from RSMs by soldiers build the foundation of trust and confidence, which enhancing stability of formations and units across the Nigerian Army.

He also said that commissioning of the the buildings is the part of house welfare agenda for the RSMs, aimed at restoring the prestige of the office. Afterwards, he handed over the keys of the building to Army Warrant Officer Adams Bamidele, the RSM of 1 Division, Nigerian Army.

Recall that since the assumption of office, the COAS has not relented in boosting troops’ morale and reinvigorating their fighting will, promptly implementing welfare policies and dispensation of welfare packages.

He has introduced the introduction of welfare flights for troops and their families, in and out of operational theatres, construction of new accommodation quarters and renovation of dilapidated ones.

He also presented Hilux vehicles to serving and retired RSMs to restore the dignity associated with the office and empower them to effectively carry out their duties.
