Mini-length uniform has been banned in schools across Anambra state.
This was made known by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma Udeh during an interactive meeting with Education Secretaries of public and mission schools held at ASUBEB hall, Awka.
Condemning the growing trend of mini-length uniform found on school girls, the Commisioner said it goes against the acceptable dress code for schools in the state.
She said a student should look smart, well-groomed, project positive vibes and not be indecently dressed for school.
She added that the acceptable length for uniforms in the state remains knee length and not above the knee as is fast becoming the norm.
The Commissioner charged the Education Secretaries to ensure schools comply with the directives and salvage the future of umu-akwukwo Anambra as the educators are the foundation and control the formative years of the children .
She stated that the right morals and discipline should be infused in the students so they grow to be rational human beings, showing them there is more to life
She also noted that if they fail to get it right at this stage, they have failed to protect the future of the children.
The meeting was also an opportunity for Education Secretaries discuss positive trends that will herald the next academic session with the Commissioner.
